Mudança em aprendizagem motora: Uma perspectiva de Coordenação e Controle   TEXTO COMPLETO / FULL TEXT

Karl M. Newell

Department of Kinesiology - The Pennsylvania State University

University Park,  USA

Change in Motor Learning: A Coordination and Control Perspective

Abstract: This paper examines the issue of change in motor learning from a dynamical systems framework. There is qualitative and quantitative change to performance over time that is driven by an embedded set of evolving dynamical systems each with its own time scale of change. Learning arises through searching and the evolution and dissolution of the stable dynamical regions of coordination modes for a given task. Learning then is discovering (searching for) the dynamic laws. The nature of the relevant of information that facilitates the search and the transitions of the stable modes of performance is the key to the efficacy of learning strategies.

Key Words: Motor learning, degrees of freedom, dimension, task constraints.

Experiencing the Body in Order to Enrich the Spirit   TEXTO COMPLETO / FULL TEXT

Elie Cohen-Gewerc

Beit-Berl Colllage, Israel

Abstract: The perception of the body by man, is a main topic for humans in every age and culture. Our objective is to review few points from the past and to discuss what is occurring now. Doing so, we hope understand what could be the dangers for present generations, and more importantly, to discern some of the opportunities. First we will look how body is perceived as raw material to be handled with care, being ‘by definition’ complex and dangerous. In a second phase we will see how human body acquire subjective legitimacy. Then we will observe the more complex stage that occurs when the individual wins sole ownership of his/her body and embarks upon the search for meaning. Lastly, we will attempt to describe the possible path in which the philosophy of leisure and culture of the body offer the individual a process towards personal harmony.

Key Words: Body, spirit, meaning, consciousness, harmony.

A  The Use of Electromyography for the Identification of Fatigue in Lower Back Pain   TEXTO COMPLETO / FULL TEXT

Serge H. Roy

NeuroMuscular Research Center, Boston University, Boston USA

Abstract:  A surface EMG technique is described which was developed to provide an objective measure of paraspinal muscle function in patients with LBP. The device, referred to as a Back Analysis System (BAS) records changes in spectral and amplitude parameters from 6 EMG electrodes during a series of fatiguing isometric tasks that rely on visual force-feedback. Changes in the EMG median frequency, a fatigue index, are first compared in this report for different electrode locations and different constant force levels in healthy control subjects. The results demonstrate that there is a characteristic “normal” pattern of fatigue among the various paraspinal muscle sites that is symmetric with respect to contra lateral paravertebral locations, but significantly different when comparing upper and lower lumbar levels. Changes in EMG median frequency during a sustained contraction are significantly increased with increases in force level of the contraction. In patients with chronic LBP in remission, the degree of median frequency change is significantly higher than in control subjects matched for strength. These findings are likely related to muscle deconditioning resulting from chronic disuse. Other findings are reported from BAS protocols among sub-acute LBP patients with moderate to severe disability. These patients have a distinctive asymmetrical pattern of muscle fatigue as measured by the median frequency and amplitude parameters. This pattern is interpreted as a way of measuring muscle imbalances resulting from to pain-related inhibition or avoidance behavior. Implications of these characteristic EMG findings are discussed in terms of differential treatment strategies for LBP.

Physiological and Metabolic Solicitation of Upper Boddy Intermitente Anaerobic Exercise

Abstract: This study investigated oxygen uptake (VO2), blood lactate (LA), heart rate (HR), aerobic contribution (AC), relative mean power (MP) and relative peak power (PP) during four upper body Wingate tests with three minutes of rest among them, performed by 15 judo athletes. The comparison among tests was made through an one-way ANOVA with repeated measures. There was a MP decrease during the tests, except from test three to test four, whereas PP did not differ between tests one and two and between tests three and four. The AC was lower in test one compared to the others and LA increased during the tests. The MP decrease during the tests seems to be related to a lower glycolitic pathway activation. The increase in AC was not enough to maintain the performance in the subsequent tests.

Key Words: Wingate, upper body, lactate, aerobic contribution.

Protocols Comparation for Verification of Muscular Fatigue by surface Electromyography

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to analyze the process of muscular fatigue through the electromyographic signal of the vastus lateralis muscle (VL) during two protocols (exhaustion and 1 minute) in the isometric exercise of the knee extension. The electromyographic signals (RMS) of dominant lower limb VL muscle of the 9 female were captured with sample frequency of 1000Hz.  Data were acquired through surface electrodes connected to a  biological signals acquisition module, by A/D interface and specific software. The obtained results, after the accomplishment of the linear regression between RMS and the number of collections, showed a predominance of positive correlations in both protocols, corresponding to the development of the muscular fatigue. However, the intensity and the significant level of the correlations presented better results in the exhaustion protocol. It was concluded that in the 1 minute protocol loads ≥30% of the maximum load should be used.

Key Words : Electromyography, fatigue, protocols comparation, isometric contraction.

Sport, Social Relation and Violence

Abstract:  This study involved children and teenagers from the city of Curitiba, which developed sport activities, analizing aspects of phisical and simbolic violence, the use of drugs and  their relacionship with sport activities. We also showed evident violence study and its interface with sports, from the point of view of sport history and social development, according to Norbert Elias theory. The study demostrated that children and teenagers keep some control of the emotion and violence and fisical expression while they are not practicing sports. Nevertheless while practing sports they often get envolved with violent situations, as arguing, verbal menace  and even fisical aggressions. Basically on this study we can confirm that the self-control of the children and teenagers in practing sports doesn’t happen always as a better way, since the violence takes part of practising configuration.

Key Words : Violence, sports, society.
