The
campus in Rio Claro
In
Rio Claro, the two institutes are: The Institute of Biosciences and
the Institute of Geosciences. The Institute of Biosciences consists
of 7 departments with a total of 122 faculty members.
The physical area of the campus covers 54 ha, including departmental
buildings, centers for research, three auditoriums, and numerous
classrooms. In Rio Claro, 1,200 students attend undergraduate, master’s,
and doctoral programs.
The
Department of Physical Education
The
Department of Physical Education, created in 1984, is part of the
Institute of Biosciences and currently has 31 faculty members with
full-time dedication to teaching, research, administration and community
services. Currently, over 300 students attend two concentration areas,
bachelor and licensure degrees in physical education. In
2004 was considered one of the four best undergraduate courses in Brazil
One
such program is the graduate program (master’s and doctoral) in Human
Movement Sciences (http://www.rc.unesp.br/ib/pos/indexpos.html).
UNESP is one of the top schools in the nation and its physical education
undergraduate program is considered one of the four best programs in
Brazil. The graduate program is one of Brazil’s finest, earning high
recommendation scores from the federal educational and research evaluation
system.
Faculty
members have affiliations with researchers at other Brazilian institutions
as well as with well-known researchers from other countries. The direct
outcomes of these relationships are collaborative studies, training for
undergraduate and graduate students, scholarships from national grant
organizations, and placement of former students into other world-renowned
centers of research and Ph.D. programs.
